Microchip

Here’s an X-ray showing a dog’s bent front leg.

See that tiny white speck?

That’s a microchip!

Surprisingly, it has moved down the leg from its original insertion point between the shoulders. Microchips migrating like this actually isn’t unusual.

When a lost pet or injured pet is scanned, it’s crucial to scan the entire body to detect any microchips that may have shifted. However, as a pet owner, **it’s your responsibility** to request a quick scan at your pet’s yearly veterinary exam to confirm three key things: (1) that the microchip is still working

(2) its location is easy to find, and (3) most importantly, that your contact information is current.

Keeping your contact details updated is essential!

If your pet gets lost, a working chip with accurate information can make the difference in reuniting with them quickly.

Microchips save lives and bring pets home—just remember to check it regularly!
